We believe great grooming is about far more than appearance. Healthy skin, comfortable coats and positive experiences all play an important role in your dog's wellbeing.

Every dog is different and we believe every grooming experience should be too. Rather than rushing dogs for the perfect groom, we take the time to understand their needs, confidence and tolerance levels, creating appointments that work with your dog, not against them.

It’s our boy Spot, back to see us for a deshed and dematting session and what a lovely dog he is, everytime. 🩵

Spot had some mats on his bum and inner legs today, one of which has created a wee bridge between his legs and was causing his some bother, as soon as we snipped and clipped this away he changed temperament completely and allowed us to continue working.

Mats can become painful for dogs if they form in the wrong way and poor Spot had one that would have affected his movement if left to much longer but thankfully his dad is on top of this, keeps and eye and brings Spot in when he needs seen! ⭐️ star pupils!

Kayla and her wet ears 👀 you may remember Murphy from Tuesday, this is his sister Kayla. What a dream, other than hating her ears being touched or dried, she smashed it! A little longer next time for hand trimming and we’re golden! ⭐️

Mable the Airedale came to see us today for her regular groom and she is an absolute STAR! Such a good groom, stands like an angel and well maintained by her mum. All we could ask for here ⭐️ Star pupil!

Rowan, another one of our regulars came to see us this morning for a big deshed, blow dry and tidy up. Rowan was a little tired this morning and was a bit grumpy when we touched her feet, but we got there and she left looking much tidier 🩵

We lost one of our own today, and we are heartbroken.

Bruce 2014-2026.

Many of you will have met Maisey, she is part of our team and has groomed many dogs here at the club. Today, Maisey lost Bruce, and he spent his last day here with us, at the shop saying hello to all the dogs and keeping up on our toes.

It’s never easy to loose a dog here, but Bruce was part of our little family and it was an honour to know him. We know Bruce is already loving being a puppy again. 🌈

Here’s to Bruce, an absolute rockstar to the very end ⭐️

This little toot is Isla, one of our gentler grooms today - she came to see us for a slower groom as she has recently had spinal surgery, so she was groomed with the scope to sit and move how she wanted too. Maisey trimmed her coat, ears and legs a little, keeping her coat long and full but with shape 🤩

It’s our girl Cici, one of our Founding Members and hands down one of our favourite dogs to see. This gentle girl had a very special groom today, she as the winner of our June Competition and her groom was on us! She also won a @bugalugspetcare Baby Fresh Set 🩵

We will never get tired of Covid visits 🤩

This, is Murphy. The densest coat we have ever seen and one of the only dogs that has a history of not shedding a single hair during his groom… beleive it or not, this is his after photo! 🥹

Murphy has a coat like we’ve never seen before, it took a two-person team 1.5 hours to dry him and his coat didn’t shed - anything. However, towards the end of our groom we found that hand striping some of the longer, dead, tight coat out. Next time, we aim to book a longer session and get as much done as we can.

Until then, Murphy, you were an absolute pleasure 🤩

It’s the one and only, Misha’s back! 🎤

We got an entire albums worth of songs from Misha this week, during collection, during the groom and on the way home! Huskies love to sing but Misha takes the cake!

A lovely groom and the best boy, see you again soon big man!

Scruffers - another regular here at Dirty Dogs! This time we did no clipping, kept his coat longer and brushed, shaped and bathed him for the colder months ⭐��️

One of our favourite regulars, Duke ⭐️ the sweetest nature, the gentlest soul and the easier dog to groom. Duke come to see us every 6/8 weeks on a Saturday morning for a good deshed and bath.

He’s going to his mums wedding later in the year so we’re looking forward to getting him all tidy! He’ll be the best wedding guest in our opinion 🤫

Mickey - and his smoulder ⭐️

A first visit for Mickey the Vizsla today, a dry deshed and no bath as he is terrified of running water, but we’re gonna work on that.

Bailey came back to see us today for his full groom and other than being a little foot-shy he was a star. We will work on his feet each session as he suffers from toe mats, compacted sand and tugs in between his toes and pads.

Axel in for his first deshed with us today, he sang some songs and managed about 90% of his first ever groom! Well done Axel! ⭐️

The stunner is Cali, our first dog if the day today ☀️

She’s a Pitweiler, 5 years old and full of beans!

Our girl Pippa came back to see us today for her regular groom and what a little star ⭐️

She is such a pleasure to groom and we always love seeing her.

Clio and he little tongue came into see us yesterday for a hand trim and tidy up. She had her tougue out the entire time and we loved it.

A lovely little dog and a great dog to groom! See you again next time Clio 🩵

Suki cousin (kind off) Lola 🌺

Lola didn’t like being picked up, but one she was up, she loved it. A lovely little grooming buddy and we can’t wait to see her again!

Our next double session of the day, the first half is Suki the Lhasa Apso 🐾 we trimmed her back but kept some length as requested by her mum and dad.

Suki was suffering from anxiety during grooming so we took things slow, hand trimmed her legs and stopped face trimmed when she asked us too. Building trust is more important than a perfect trim for us, we can perfect her face next time once she knows us a bit more 🩵

Up next we have Tank, our in-house opera singer for the day. We got first class tickets to his solo performance 🎵🎤

We trimmed Tank all over with a 5F, trimmed his tail, fave and ears but kept some length 🐾

Half of our double session this morning, Dougal’s brother Denzel in to see us for a deshed and tidy up. Always a pleasure ⭐️

This smooth older gent is Dougal. A bearded collie who gets a full clip and tidy up, and what a gentleman he is ⭐️

Gentle, respectful, courteous. A proper charmer of a dog and we genuinely can’t wait to see him next! 🩵

We didn’t actually groom little Lucy, she came in with her big sister Carlie (who we just posted) as they are never separated. So she followed us around as we groomed her sister but we gave her a little nail trim and plenty cuddles when she was with us 🩵

She’s the smallest dog we have ever seen, weighing 2kilos and she was too cute not to share 🐾

So, after a crazy week and a lot of water, we managed to see a few dogs toward the end of the week and the first was Carlie 🩵

This beautiful girl came to us for a full deshed and her mum wanted her left completely natural, no trimming, no clipping and no shaping. We removed her loose undercoat, cleaned her up and sent her away feeling fresh and with natural looking furnishings 🐾

The beautiful Enzo, a dog that touched our hearts 🩵

This was our last groom for this special boy. A few months ago we helped find Enzo a beautiful new home on the Isle of Lewis and this weekend we gave him an extra special groom before his travels.

The best boy who will have the best life, and we were so happy to see him. 🩵

A moment for Echo and the amazing progress he has made 🩵

This is Echo, and we are so proud of him. He comes to see us every 3/4 weeks for a 30 minute brushing session. No bath, no blow dry, no tools or trimming. Just us, Echo and a brush.

The first time we saw him, we only managed about 5 minutes of brushing work. Echo is reactive with brushing and does not allow annoying to touch his tail or back legs/bum.

After being turned away by every other dog groomer, we have worked with him now for 3/4 months and he is truly learning every session.

Today, on his 5th session, we brushed his belly, his tail, legs and feathers. We removed mats, sticky willows and twigs. We trimmed his feather and most importantly… we were muzzle free for half of our session.

Echo is learning trust, tolerance and time. We are so proud of him and he is a shining example of what small sessions and consistent exposure in a safe environment can do for a dog.

Well done not only to Echo, but to his mum and dad too for coming to see us and committing to such a journey with us 🩵
